The EOWLTD 10" series kicks off with the Odysseys EP by @holloway-95. Launched as a project to showcase the label's more genre centred tastes, the south London based DJ & Producer pulls no punches when it comes to the imprints first offering.Following recent releases on Bluff Records, Time Is Now and INSTINCT, Holloway debuts his first 140 project. Sounding fresh out the mid-naughties, expect club rattling subs in the form of stripped-back Dubstep pressure. The EP showcases an elating, garage-influenced, FWD-thinking sound somehow nostalgic and yet also completely new.The record opens with ‘Chat Bad’. With Holloway's characteristic low-end mechanics providing a base layer for the syncopated percussive workout that sits on top. The dark stabs and other melodic elements are guaranteed to turn heads in the dance. On the flip side. ‘Levitate’ kicks off with a hypnotic, heads-down mood with deep subs and dubbed-out vocals. At the switch-up Holloway’s idiosyncratic basslines are introduced for those gun-finger, energetic moments in the club.A5 Riso printed (on premium) insert included with each record.
GEMS UNDER THE HORIZON 1 (a chill-out division of Basic Moves)."Unexpectedly, the track is based around a chord from a song often played on the radio during the Second World War. The sample has been manipulated - it almost feels as if the music disappears into the mist. The title references the green flare shot into the sky that allied bomber squadrons took as a signal for take-off. (In case of a red light, they were to turn their engines off and run back to their quarters.) Hence the saying: "Up goes the green flare."”“Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” Dylan Thomas 1947“Up Goes The Green Flare” Composed, Performed, Recorded and Mixed by Bernard Zwijzen in Hasselt/Belgium Autumn 2005. First EP by the new talent Supply. An hermetically sealed off sound universe that oddly billows between the absurd nostalgia of a crying seagull and the modern i-dont-give-a-fuckery of hedonistic club culture. All tracks are completely produced with an mpc and recorded live on an 8-track tape deck.
Couple of years in the making, our close friend Z@P is presenting his first album with a new alter ego: Signal Kommt.
The fifth release on DJ Nobu's Bitta label. A debut single by a new Japanese producer Daisuke Uchimura with two mesmerizing remixes by Marco Shuttle. Mindbending deep and hypnotic techno trips.
It might sound far fetched but here goes: Circadian Rhythms aka Dj Deg brought techno to Belgium before anyone was ready for it. The 1990s collective “Bad Woofers Posse” formed with lifelong friend Mike DMA and their “PK” warehouse parties served as fertile ground for the young producer.Steeped in this new atmosphere, Deg locked himself up in his bedroom studio at his parents’ place and started developing his interpretation of the freshly imported techno/house sound. In the Belgian way. Combining emotional synth play with neck-breaking drum patterns, sequenced like dreams forever chasing the climax.BM11 collects six unreleased takes from this almost forgotten period (1989 – 1994).
